I personally wouldn’t use one that shocked a dog for anything, but some people have tried every method and simply cannot break a habit. There was a dog on Cesar Milans show who kept chasing cars and biting the tires, so they used a shock collar with a mild setting to get him to stop because it could eventually kill him. There are collars that spray citronella which is harmless for the dog but unpleasant in smell–those I think are good!! I am thinking about getting one for my dog to keep her from jumping because she is very strong and jumps extremely high.
